Executives / Management Trainees
Read this before you apply
Resource may be one of the most professional work environments you will come across: a place of excellence, integrity and high standards. Read on and get to know us better. If you feel we suit each other, it could be the start of a happy, mutually beneficial relationship.
What we are
Resource has been in the business of communication for about 25 years. We operate from a picturesque office in the heart of the city and have the abilities and infrastructure to execute a range of jobs—both digital and print—efficiently, imaginatively and quickly.
Ours is a small team. We work with a range of associates and professional partners in areas that include writing, graphic design, strategy and Internet solutions.
What we do…
Our mix of business is somewhat unusual. As a communication studio, we have handled projects relating to brand identity; unique high-value illustrated books; web sites, both local and offshore; experimental distance education programmes (for which we have created original course material); digital presentations; conduct of an international architectural talent search and even conventional advertising. We are very selective in the kind of work we like to take on.
We are looking to grow—with direction and purpose. And we are currently exploring some interesting projects that have excited our imagination.
...and how we do it
Our outlook on a few matters may make it easier to understand how working with us might be. For instance:
- Working hours: We are advocates of a healthy work-life balance. We have a five day week and we prefer working smart to working long hours.
- Collaboration: We believe in collaborative work, a boundary-less work style, the importance of conversations, the sharing of ideas and information... The Resource team is a supportive one and we follow a group practice approach. While we value an independent, self-generating work style, help, advice and opinions are always on tap when needed.
- "Getting business": We do not make cold calls or do speculative work. We are selective about our clients. And clients come to us because they like our work and our professionalism.
- Lunch: No, that's not out-of-place here! Lunch time is important. We have an in-house kitchen where healthy vegetarian lunches are cooked everyday. Lunch is heavily subsidised by the company and team members decide the menu.
Your typical day at Resource
Work at Resource is based on discovery and debate. A typical day at Resource may involve: a brainstorming session to design information architecture for an online literary magazine, interacting with clients through email, discussing the possible contents of a coffee table book on bird photography, researching an interesting social trend, reviewing a brochure design, devising a system to plan and manage an upcoming project, giving a creative brief to an outsourcing partner…
(And speaking of outsourcing partners, in the course of a project, you may find yourself working with a range of interesting people, for instance: web designers, writers, photographers, graphic designers, subject specialists, corporate film makers, marketing and communication professionals and illustrators.)
As you can see, Resource is a fertile environment for learning and growth. No matter what stage you may be in your career, exposure to a professional culture such as ours will be both rewarding and invaluable.
So what kind of person are we looking for?
We don't have a specific profile to define the person we are looking for. We do have a generic list of attributes and qualifications, though. We are looking for someone who:
-
Is bright, enthusiastic and positive.
-
Is eager to learn.
-
Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-
Is a graduate/post-graduate in any academic discipline. Humanities background (literature, the social sciences or media and communication) is likely to be more suited.
